Work to make vocabularies work across systems

Work to make vocabularies work across systems - create and manage mappings; work on diversity issues, such as how to connect bibliographic data to scientific data; explore exchange formats and application profiles.

Some considerations are: mapping challenges, data inconsistency, directions, vocabularies, etc. as described in https://sites.google.com/site/nisobibrm/breakout-group-interoperability

Improve the ability of our data to be consumed and manipulated

Improve the ability of our data to be consumed and manipulated by machines (e.g. limit assumptions about consumers/users) A strategy emphasized in order to improve interoperability between existing systems and standards, enable better visibility of library data (bibliographic data) for end users on the web, enable use by a broader variety of users and systems with no boundaries, enhance collaborative and shared infrastructures ...more »

Further explore rules-related challenges

Given the impact of rules, authority issues, where core, basic data is required; there is a need for extensibility/scalability; and data and standards are dynamic, should we: identify the scale of the problem; determine its starting point; determine format and cataloging rules; manage semantic vocabularies and content through application community profiles; determine question of how one size can fit all (libraries, ...more »

Build interactivity: capture new awarenesses

To support knowledge creation, we need to support interactive interfaces that enable users to share their thoughts about the content and relationships they discover. We need to support the scaffolding of new knowledge as users interact with our content and with each other about our content. We need to think in 3D about engagement in the digital space.
