E-book Annotation Sharing Alternatives

For the group developing standards for e-book annotations, sharing of these needs to be more discriminatory than the current "all or nothing" that Amazon does with Kindle. I would like to be able to:

Develop best practices for creating, organizing, providing discovery of and access to geo-referenced images (for example digitized historic maps or aerial photographs). This could include suggestions for:

Overview of current discovery service landscape

Recent talks by Oren Beit-Arie have reminded me that the current discovery service landscape (specifically that of information providers in centrally-indexed search products) is very similar to the first years of participation in OpenURL. Maybe a webinar that could look at the current state of discovery services and remind people that, according to previous examples, it WILL change.
